Leon Barker - Drums

1989 the year when Rock Gods and Grunge forefathers battled the coming future of the looming nineties. Also back then, a young warrior of life had within him embers of fervent musical desires poured upon by oceans of pure Rock'n'Roll fuelled passion! Simply engulfing Leon's artistic soul igniting his talents from being a Graphic Artist/Photographer to that of also Drummer/Percussionist.

Cutting his Live teeth with local New Zealand home town bands in Rock/Jazz/Funk/Blues before moving north to Christchurch to Play with Cover & many Original bands whilst gaining training in Music Production, Audio Engineering & small business.
Throughout the years Leon has worked in Experimental/Rock/Pop/Funk/Acid Jazz/Celtic/Afro-Latin & Groove, plus various other musical outfits.
In the late nineties Leon taught Drums Privately and in Schools till 2007. Attending Jazz School for a year before taking on teaching Drums and working at the Christchurch Rock Shop as Drum Tech/M.I Sales Assistant around his gigging. He has been a Drum Tech for clinicians such as Walfredo Reyes Jnr, Mike Mangini, Virgil Donati & Thomas Lang.

Influences are too many to list, for an abundance of Bands & extreme personalities have influenced Leon with their Voice, Word, Stringed, Skinned, Electric & Acoustic abilities. John Bonham, Stewart Copeland, Simon Phillips, Terry Bozzio, Dave Weckl, Manu Katche, Bill Bruford, Mike Fudakowski & James Wilkinson are to name but a few.
Over Time, Leon has Performed & Recorded with many outstanding Musicians/Bands/Singer Song Writers in New Zealand & abroad such as James Wilkinson, Rua, Zombi Groove, Vahid, Sabor, Cripple Mr Onion, Atlas, and many others. Also always writing Lyrics & songs, Leon's work has been recorded with Vahid and Steve Oskam.

In June 2007 Leon moved to the UK where he currently resides in London. Since arriving he's worked for several Shows & Productions including Tech & Drum Tech Assistant for Led Zeppelin.
Seated right now upon the Drum throne for duties with busy London based Alternative Rock quartet Lilygun, Anna-Christina and her fine fellow band mates keep Leon's energetic rhythmic antics ablaze, making sure there is plenty of well earned sweat upon his brow!! And so here forth continues Leon's journey of the creative being.
