Lilygun pull up to a spacey country house in Oxford
guarded by two enormous Great Danes. With only three days to record and
mix their demo, the next few days would seem like an old skool movie played
back double speed!
Out Of Line, Free Instead and Moonlight were the chosen songs and as Piranha
buzzed around Bumblebee style, Anna-Christina frantically talked till the
early hours of the morning, the Lilygun demo gradually took form.
When the first day had ended, a 17 hour marathon of laying down drums,
bass and guitars, they were sent off in the early hours of the morning,
four beers in hand and all but one means of light (a tiny torch) into the
dark of night. They shuffled down a wooded lane struggling with their bags
back to their rooms. Clearly they had taken a wrong turn when they ended
up in front of a graveyard!
In a slight panic, think Blair Witch, they back-tracked speedily to the
main path and were soon in the comforts of their rooms.
After half an hour of watching Underworld, Anna-Christina found herself
briefly locked out of her room, having locked the key in her room,
Piranha broke into the main office, with suspicious skill, to get the skeleton
key with his mobile phone flash light and by the time they had returned
the keys and snuggled up in their beds, the day was dawning and in a few
hours the second day of recording would begin.
It was to be another action packed day laying down vocals and avoiding the
Great Danes. The end result was a demo that brought a smile to everyone's
faces and a sense that this band does well under pressure but would not
do well in an episode of Most Haunted!!
